The story behind the CLAAS Xerion 5000 dates back to the late 1970s, when the German manufacturer began to draw up concepts for a large, high-powered tractor. Nearly two decades later, the Xerion range was launched, with numerous iterations suitable for applications ranging from heavy-duty arable farming to snow blowing and open-cast mining.

The CLAAS Xerion 5000 was first launched at the Agritechnica trade fair in 2010 in response to demand for a dynamic, high-powered, high-traction farm tractor. The latest version features a Mercedes-Benz 12.8-litre, six-cylinder engine with maximum output of 530 hp and maximum torque of 2600 Nm. Advanced SCR technology, DPF and DOC systems also ensure compliance with current Stage V emissions regulations.

The CMATIC continuously variable transmission provides unique comfort in the high-horsepower class, with stepless speed adjustments from 0.05–50 kph. Two steering axles facilitate different steering methods and ensure flexibility, accuracy and manoeuvrability. Additionally, the spacious Xerion Comfort cab features large, heated windows for maximum visibility, the ergonomic CMOTION multi-functional control lever and a range of clear, intuitive displays.

Several model variants are available to meet individual requirements. The CLAAS Xerion 5000 TRAC is specifically designed for arable farming and specialises in tillage, transport and slurry spreading. The CLAAS Xerion TRAC VC features a rotating cab for an unparalleled view of the rear attachment, making it ideal for silo operations and mulching.

The cab of the CLAAS Xerion 5000 SADDLE TRAC is fixed over front axle to accommodate mounted implements. Finally, the CLAAS Xerion TRAC TS is fitted with crawler track assembly to minimise soil compaction, making it suitable for heavy tillage and seed drilling.
